I obtained my Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Johannesburg and completed my internship at 1 Military Hospital in 2006. Over the past two decades, I have built up a broad and diverse base of practical experience working with individuals of all ages, from preschool children to adults.
Key aspects of my practical and clinical experience include:
- Early exposure to therapeutic work during my studies, including:
- Working with preschool children in Soshanguve, focusing on educational program evaluation.
- Completing Lifeline’s counselor training and volunteering in telephone counseling.
- Providing therapy and parent collaboration at an all-girls primary school during my Master’s.
- Career counseling and assessments at the University of Johannesburg’s Student Services Bureau.
- Conducting psychological assessments and therapy for children, adolescents, and adults at the Institute for Child and Adult Guidance.
- Internship at 1 Military Hospital:
This provided rich exposure to both child and adult therapy, including pediatric psychological assessments, intensive child therapy, and emotional support for adults with severe orthopedic injuries.
- Post-qualification work:
In 2012, I joined the NG Moreleta Park Support Centre, where I worked primarily with preschool children. I also completed an advanced play therapy course under the supervision of Dr. Hannie Schoeman. Since January 2013 I have been in private practice focusing mainly on therapy with pre-teen children, teens and families. Worked at Pearson Institute from 2016 until 2019 in a supervisor capacity for third year students in their B Psychology program after which the program dissolved. I continued in private practice up until this day
My Current Practice
Today, I work with clients from across Pretoria and beyond, helping them navigate emotional difficulties, family transitions, academic pressure, trauma, and other psychological challenges. I provide therapy in both English and Afrikaans, and sessions are available in person or online depending on your preference and circumstances.
I am passionate about supporting the emotional development of children and adolescents, empowering parents, and helping individuals across all ages experience meaningful, lasting growth.
